What's New This Week?
It is my duty to provide a high quality of education to your child. This month I am focusing a great
deal of attention toward being a healthy human. We are studying the food groups and balanced nutrition as well as why
exercise is beneficial to our bodies. Therefore, I have decided that 6th grade's first recess period this
month will be replaced with P.E. or some specific form of physical activity in which the students will moniter
their heart rates as well as their peer's heart rates. The assignments and details about this program are
listed under the Homework tab. The students will be required to participate unless a doctor's excuse is presented.

Here you'll be able to find your child's homework, test, quiz and
classroom schedule. I have also included web sites to help you and your child with problems they may face in the homework
assignments as well as sites that have great activities for reinforcing material presented in class. The top toolbar
includes a link to my personal and school contact information. Please feel free to email me at any time!

Hello! My name is Marianne Battaglia and I will be your child's science teacher this year. This is my first
year to teach all of the sixth grade science classes at SJ Welch Middle School as well as the seventh
grade earth science and health courses. I am a graduate of Louisiana State University (GO TIGERS!) from which I obtained
both my Bachelor's and Master's degree in Education. I am currently working toward my PhD in school administration.
I hope you find this site helpful in keeping you updated with what is going on in my classroom. I will be updating the
homework tab weekly as well as changing it according to classwork and time schedules. I look forward to speaking
with and getting to know each of you! I am more than willing to make arrangements to meet with you or I am more than happy
to email or call you if you have any questions, problems, etc.
